RDC AWARDS - MADIRA NOT YOUR USUAL TYPE OF CAKE
I've been really chuffed to be shortlisted in the Business of the Year category of Making a Difference in Richmondshire Awards (MADIRA), and am attending the awards ceremony atr SFX this Wednesday. (it is open to all)
Best of luck to all those nominated!
Once again we are running an award scheme to celebrate the best that Richmondshire has to offer - and we need your help.
The renamed Making a Difference in Richmondshire Awards aim to recognise the dedicated people who make the District a better place in which to live and work.
We want to highlight - and celebrate - the exceptional contribution to life in Richmondshire made by countless residents, young and old.
But to do that, we need you to tell us about any worthy recipents that you might know of. Many may work behind the scenes, out of the limelight - but this is a great chance to say "thank you" publicly, so we are keen to receive as many nominations as possible.
The 2011/12 Making a Difference in Richmondshire Awards are this year being held at St. Francis Xavier School, Darlington Road, Richmond on Wednesday 18 April 2012 at 7.00 pm. This is an open free of charge event, all are welcome to attend. Please come along and show your support.
The closing date for nominations has now passed and a shortlisting panel has met and considered all nominations. Several nominations were received and it was very difficult for the Shortlisting Panel to make the selections in each categories as all would have been worthy winners.
The shortlist in each category is:

FORK 'ANDLES - GOT ANY 'O'S?
Delivering some beer at the White Swan a few weeks back I was asking for inspiration for names for my beer. Stuart, gave this is a suggestion, and here it is! Thanks Stuart.
The sketch is widely held to be one of the most iconic sketches of the Two Ronnies. It was voted by the British public as the funniest comedy moment of the seventies in UKTV Gold's "When Were We Funniest?".
It was placed fifth on Channel 4's list of the fifty greatest comedy sketches of all time.
At Ronnie Barker's memorial service in Westminster Abbey, the cross was accompanied up the aisle by four candles instead of the usual two.
See it in all it's glory on you tube -
And catch it whilst you can from the following fine ale houses:
The White Swan, Gilling West
The Old Well, Barnard Castle
The Ship Inn, Middlestone Village
The Cross Keys, Gainford
The Shoulder of Mutton, Kirby Hill
The Lord Nelson, Appleton Wiske
The Duke Of Wellington, Welbury
The Teesdale Hotel, Middleton In Teesdale
The Quakerhouse, Darlington
The Grand Hotel, Bishop Auckland
The Snooker Club, Darlington
Enjoy!
