Wikio - Top Blogs - Wine and beer

AFTER THE DISAPPOINTMENT OF THE RUGBY, WHAT BETTER WAY TO GET THE SPIRITS UP BY CELEBRATING ST PATRICK'S DAY?

OTHER THAN AN EXCUSE FOR A GOOD OLD KNEE'S UP ACCOMPANIED BY PLENTY OF DRINKING, HOW MUCH DO WE REALLY KNOW ABOUT ST PATRICK? ER, NOT A LOT REALLY .

SO WHY NOT HAVE A PEEK AT THE FOLLOWING SITE, AND THEN WHEN YOU ARE HAVING YOUR GOOD OLD KNEE'S UP (SOME PUBS ARE HAVING EVENTS LATER THIS WEEK) AT LEAST YOU WILL KNOW IT ISN'T JUST ABOUT HAVING A JOLLY GOOD TIME (ALTHOUGH IT MAY BE)

DARLINGTON AS IT LOOKED 1880-1980 GET TOGETHER AT THE OLD VIC, SATURDAY MARCH 16TH

From the Facebook site ' this group was originally started on the tenth of March 2008, and fast forward 5 years the bloody thing is still going from strength to ruddy strength. So much so a few of the group regulars have organised a get together at the Old Vic pub on Victoria Road this Saturday (16th March) 17:30 - 19:30.'
I was delighted to be asked to brew a commemorative ale for the occasion, and after on online poll the winning name was 'The Quaker'.  So why not get along and remember how Darlington used to look (before they started messing with the Victorian architecture) and drink some ale in a great venue.

DAVID'S BROWN - ST DAVID'S DAY CELEBRATION ALE

Wikio - Top Blogs - Wine and beer

If I have any Welsh blog readers and ale drinkers I hope you have had a good day, celebrating your patron saint!

It does seem that the Welsh get a bit of a raw deal in England, we hold various events for English, Scottish and Irish countrymen and their saints but not so much the Welsh.

So let's all find out more about St David:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saint_David's_Day

And then let's all go and drink the ale in his memory at one of the following fine ale houses:

The Old Well, Barnard Castle
The Ship, Middlestone Village
The Red Lion, Cotherstone
The Black Bull, Melsonby
The Crown, Manfield
The Quaker, Darlington
The Horseshoe Inn, West Rounton
The Duke Of Wellington, Welbury
The Old Vic, Darlington
The Four Alls, Ovington
The Stanwick, Aldbrough St John
The Joiners Arms, Hunwick
The Snooker Club, Darlington

Enjoy!
