POP'S PINT

Wikio - Top Blogs - Wine and beer

Yes, I know Father's Day was at the weekend. Unfortunately the decorating requirements of Mrs Mithril had to take precedence and the blog is still running behind.

However,  I did make sure I bought my dad a card and pressie in time for the big day - unless I wanted my aXXe kicked it would have been stupid to do otherwise.

I imagine Pop's Pint has been and gone, but it was delivered out to the following fine establishments:

The Old Well, Barnard Castle
The Countryman's Inn, Hunton
The Holly Hill Inn, Richmond
The Red Lion, Cotherstone
The Half Moon, Darlington
The New Inn, Thrintoft
The Quakerhouse, Darlington
Derby Beer Festival
Loco No1, Heighington Station
The Croft Hotel, Croft On Tees
The Four Alls, Ovington
The Stanwick, Aldbrough St John

Enjoyed!

JUMPIN JACK FLASH

Wikio - Top Blogs - Wine and beer

Firstly, apologies for some blog backlog caused by a decorating project being undertaken the Mithril living room -the worst of which has come to conclusion. (phew). This year marks the 45th anniversary of the Stones classic 'Jumping Jack Flash'. I last saw the Stones live when they first came to St James Park many moons ago. I can't recall how much it cost, it obviously wasn't balance busting (at least not then). I dread to think how much it would cost now! Why not get down to your local, drink some ale and remember the days when the Stones were just rebels who played great music. Then weep, when you think of the corporate money making behometh they have now become.

Flash has been on, or may still be available at the following fine ale houses:

The Wharf, Macclesfield
The Old Well, Barnard Castle
The Ship, Middlestone Village
The Golden Lion, Osmotherley
The Voodoo Cafe, Darlington
The Green Tree, Patrick Brompton
The  Nags Head, Sedgefield
The Stanwick, Aldbrough St John
The Croft Hotel, Croft on Tees

Enjoy!

CROWN AT MANFIELD - OPEN AS USUAL DURING ROAD CLOSURE

Wikio - Top Blogs - Wine and beer

The following is taken from NumberTwenty2's facebook page,

'The Crown Inn is open as usual in spite of North Yorkshire Highways best efforts. The signs say road closed for 5 weeks (Piercebridge side) and in fairness do state that businesses are open as usual.

It is so frustrating though for Peter and Karen when there is so little happening and there clearly is access through the roadworks.

Timothy Taylor, Marstons and Village Brewer are sponsoring a loyalty scheme to those making the effort to get to The Crown Inn.'

I've noticed myself that very little seems to be going on, I am aware that some people are driving round the cones - but bear in mind you could get into bother with the police if you are caught doing this!

If you collect eight stamps, you get one drink free - so what better excuse to make a short detour to access the Crown from the Stapleton end?

CORONATION - 60 YEARS NOT OUT

NOT THAT I REMEMBER IT (OBVIOUSLY I WASN'T EVEN BORN BEFORE YOU SAY ANYTHING) - IT WAS SIXTY YEARS AGO THIS MONTH THAT THE QUEEN'S CORONATION TOOK PLACE.

THE TELEVISING OF THE CORONATION WAS A FIRST. I BELIEVE THE MOST WATCHED EVENT IN TELEVISION HISTORY (FOR THE TIME). SINCE THE CORONATION,  ONLY MORE DIGNIFIED AND IMPORTANT MATTERS SUCH AS 'WHO SHOT JR' AND WHEN DEN LEFT ANGIE AT CHIRSTMAS HAVE ACHIEVED HIGHER VIEWING FIGURES.

IF YOU WANT TO READ MORE ABOUT THE CORONATION SEE:

IF YOU WANT TO DRINK THE ALE, GET ALONG TO ONE OF THE FOLLOWING FINE ALE HOUSES:

BOGGARTS MINI BAR AT THE MANCHESTER ARNDALE CENTRE
THE OLD WELL, BARNARD CASTLE
THE BEDALE BEER FESTIVAL - BEEN AND GONE
THE BLACK BULL, MELSONBY
THE CROWN, MANFIELD
THE BRIDGE, WHORLTON
THE STAR INN, HUDDERSFIELD - BEEN AND GONE AT  THEIR BEER FESTIVAL
THE GOLDEN LION, OSMOTHERLEY
THE FOUR ALLS, OVINGTON
THE STANWICK, ALDBROUGH ST JOHN

ENJOY!
