BURNS NIGHT DO'S AT VOODOO CAFE, DARLINGTON AND THE CROWN INN, MANFIELD

Wikio - Top Blogs - Wine and beer

Places are going quick and indeed may now be a sell out - however if you are looking for something to do for 'Burn's night' you couldn't go far wrong with either of the following events:

(1) THURSDAY 24TH JANUARY

Join us at the Voodoo Cafe for a Burns Night that combines tradition with Latin spice and includes a traditional haggis dinner with Whiskey toasts to the 'Bard'.

The haggis has been awarded first prize in Scotland's 'best haggis' awards and... comes from our chef' family butchers in Selkirk, Scotland.

Celebrants are asked to bring a reading; either Robert Burns poetry or a favourite poem or reading that you would like to share.
Dinner is £25 for three courses including Whiskey toasts.

Booking is essential. Please contact Voodoo Cafe telephone 01325 467555 and ask for booking details to be forwarded (email address required). Gathering begins at 7pm prompt.

A number of CAMRA friends highly recommended this night, they went last year and are going this year too. Would have loved to go as the atmosphere and food at the Voodoo are always great - but already committed to:

(2) FRIDAY 25TH JANUARY

The Crown also has a Burns night with two course menu and a piper to entertain at a bargainous £14.00 per head.

The menu includes cock a leekie soup, haggis, neeps and tatties and a traditional scottish steak pie.

Gathering from 7.00pm  ring for more details on 01325 374243

I've been to this event a number of times and always enjoyed it. This will be the first year that my father in law has been the 'piper to entertain' - hope he's not expecting a tip, I normally get to hear him for free!

cheers
